The “two sessions”spotlight
China's annual "two sessions", a highly anticipated event on the country's political calendar, as the National People’s Congress (NPC) and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) have convened. This year, Tsinghua has 8 NPC deputies and 13 CPPCC National Committee members participating in the "two sessions". They will express their opinions on hot topics in various fields, such as national economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, urbanization process, financial security, technological innovation.

Two sessions are important annual political meetings in China. The two sessions serve as an important window to look into and analyze China’s development. It covers a wide range of topics concerning China’s domestic affairs, such as the economy, environmental protection as well as foreign policies like trade issues. The Government Work Report sits high on the agenda of the two sessions. It reviews the achievements of the past year and outlines the government’s goals and priorities for socioeconomic development in the coming year. The goal of economic growth has always been a focus of attention, both at home and abroad.

This year's "two sessions" hold particular significance as 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and stands as a pivotal year for achieving the goals and tasks outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
